Jackie Baillie, MSP for Dumbarton, Helensburgh and Vale of Leven,, said: “Time and time again, I have asked Nicola Sturgeon and her health secretary to show some leadership and act to save the Out of Hours service at the Vale – and time and time again, the health board, of which they are in charge, have done nothing.
“It is the local, regional and national media – newspapers, broadcasters and online publishers – that the public rely on to tell them what is happening in courts up and down the country. All of us should be concerned at the decline in court reporting in recent years and the potential impact this has on the public’s understanding of – and confidence in – our justice system.”
Jackie Baillie, MSP for Dumbarton, said: “8,306 bed days lost to delayed discharge are 8,306 too many for a health board that is already at crisis point.
Patients also felt informed about their condition, with 80% feeling they had enough information compared with 60% across the UK. Around 84% of patients also said they were given enough information about the side effects of their medication, compared to 60% in the UK as a whole.
“One day I was waiting on the platform for my train and an older man wearing a green jacket came up to me and spat in my eye for no reason then just walked on without saying anything. I was just standing waiting on the train. I don’t understand why someone would do that. I felt shocked.
“We are well on our way to ensuring that all our settings are equipped to offer the increased hours by August and we have either opened, or are in the process of opening, a number of new early years units to cope with demand, including two new outdoor nurseries.
