Kenny MacAskill’s collection of ferry photographs

The Isle of Harris ferry port of Tarbert has a location called Caw (an Catha) on the southern side of the harbour, and is possibly one of the best spots on the West Coast of Scotland for taking photos of CalMac ferries and other visiting vessels.

Here are photos taken by me from the Caw over the past forty years, including the current major fleet vessels apart from MV Caledonian Isles and MV Loch Seaforth. Wonder if they will ever be visible from the Caw?
Enthusiast Shirley Inglis said: “❤️⚓️What a brilliant collection Kenny, thanks for sharing with is. Do you mind if I share on please? ⚓️❤️
And Balloch man John Gillies added: “A wonderful set of photos Kenny. A real treasure trove of memories.”
Democrat editor Bill Heaney wrote: “I was only in West Loch Tarbert once and that was on board an Army landing craft out of Helensburgh and heading for St Kilda.
“We ran into a horrific Force 12 storm, just like today’s, off Pabbay and had to shelter there overnight before continuing our journey to Village Bay. Interesting.
“Happy days, drinking dark rum with the officers and crew and eating freshly raked cockles off a magnificent beach at Benbecula en route to a magical part of the world.”
