A salmon farming company accused of misleading people over its plans for a fish farm in a marine protected area has withdrawn a controversial application for an industrial feeding system.

A subsidiary of Mowi Scotland, a multinational headquartered in Norway, wanted to have the automated system at an existing salmon farm on Loch Broom, near Ullapool in the northwest of Scotland.

The plan would have seen a large vessel called a feed barge allowed onto the loch to feed thousands of salmon at the Corry fish farm.

  1. Is this is the same fish farm group who were recently fined nearly a million pounds for health and safety failures where a worker on Skye died after falling between a fish feed barge.

And is it the fish farm company who has farms in and around Portree where something like 75% of fish can die due to disease.

And could it be the same fish farm company who interdicted an environmental campaigner from being able to canoe near their fish fat, or fly a drone or make a public comment else he would be jailed.

And could it be the same company who seek to legally still individuals from raising environmental concerns through using a legal strategy called SLAPP or strategic litigation against public participation.

Folks should take an interest and find out about what exactly is going on.

Scotland has a reputation as a country with pristine waters around it’s coast and a country full of Highland Glen’s. But our Salmon are now increasingly being recognised to be the chlorinated chicken of the sea fed full of antibiotics and anti lice treatments.
