MULTIPLE CLOSURES FOR ROADWORKS ON TYYHE ERSKINE BRIDGE THIS SUMMER

The closures will take place daily between 8 pm and 6 am with a variety of restrictions.

On Monday, June 15, there will be a full closure of the southbound carriageway.

On Tuesday, June 16, there will be a full closure of the southbound carriageway and a single lane closure on the northbound carriageway.

The diversions are as follows:

  • Southbound motorway traffic will be diverted via the A82 Great Western Road, Crow Road, Balshagray Avenue, the A814, the Clydeside Expressway, Junction 18 of the westbound M8 (Kingston Bridge) and the M898.
  • Southbound non-motorway traffic will be diverted via A82 Great Western Road, Crow Road, Clydeside Expressway, A814, North Street, Broomielaw, Commerce Street, Paisley Road West, Helen Street, Shieldhall Road, Renfrew Road, Glasgow Road, Glebe Street, Inchinnan Road, A8 Greenock Road and the A726.

On Wednesday, June 17, there will be a full closure of the northbound carriageway and a single lane closure on the southbound carriageway.

The diversions are as follows:

  • Northbound motorway traffic will be diverted via the M898 northbound off slip to the B815 and will be directed to follow the A726, the M898 southbound to M8 Junction 29 on slip to the M8 eastbound, continue to M8 Junction 18 off slip to the Clydeside Expressway, onto Crow Road towards Anniesland and then on to A82 Great Western Road, where this diversion will end.
  • Northbound traffic from A82 wishing to travel southbound over A898 Erskine Bridge will be diverted NB to Dunglass Roundabout, then return southbound on A82 and continue on southbound diversion above.
  • Northbound non-motorway traffic will be diverted via the A726, the A8 Greenock Road, Inchinnan Road, Glebe Street, Glasgow Road, Renfrew Road, Shieldhall Road, Helen Street, Paisley Road West, Commerce Street, Broomielaw, North Street, A814, the Clydeside Expressway westbound, Crow Road and A82 Great Western Road.

All traffic management is expected to be removed upon the completion of the work at 6 am on Friday, June 19.

Importantly, access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout the works.

A spokesperson for Amey said: “This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety and condition of the carriageway in this location.”

  1. Just wait till around October when the A82 will need to be closed due to the construction of Gruggie’s Burn flood relief mitigation works.

    This work is long long overdue and desperately needed as flooded householders know only too well at their cost.

    Whether there is a way that can reduce the need for the horror of closure but one would hope the Council phase the particular section of works until after the hugely overbudget Milton relief road is completed.

    Maybe the Council could update residents so that they are fully aware.
