The Society of Editors has called on Downing Street to ensure that access to open government is maintained for journalists working at Westminster. The Society’s actions follow concerns from lobby correspondents working at Westminster who hear that changes to the traditional lobby system will harm coverage of government actions and intentions.

DANGEROUS BUSINESS BEING A SCHOOL TEACHER

Three teachers who were assaulted by pupils were awarded more than £100,000 compensation between them, according to Scotland’s largest teachers union. The EIS says one of the victims received £55,000 after suffering serious injuries. The figures were contained in the union’s annual roundup of compensation secured for its members.
