Helensburgh restaurant owner Cara takes top women in hospitality award

Massive congratulations are in order for Cara Nicolic, who owns La Barca in Helensburgh with her husband, Milan.

Peninsula resident Cara has been named Restaurateur of the Year 2018 at the Women in Hospitality & Tourism Awards 2018.

Cara was a top journalist with the Helensburgh Advertiser and the Daily Record and Sunday Mail before switching to the hospitality business.

Another journalist was among the many people who congratulated Cara on social media.

Tina Kemp, who is now an assistant minister with the Church of Scotland, said: “Many congratulations! Job well done.”

Emma Dickson exclaimed: “Wow. fantastic well done Cara!”

Rosneath resident, Marian Hanley, who is a regular at the West Clyde Street restaurant with her husband, Pat, said: “Congratulations you have done so well and look amazing.”

La Barca regular customer, Colin Fitzpatrick, said: “That’s fantastic news Cara, you and your team worked so hard to deserve it and it was always in the bag. It also gives Helensburgh a boost.”
