I am a member of the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants. This gives you the assurance that I am properly trained and insured to conduct funerals.My experience, not just of conducting funerals, but also of speech writing and public speaking, goes back many years.
What is an independent celebrant? The answer is, someone who can conduct a non-religious or partly religious funeral service. This is where independents differ from Humanists. Independents can allow hymns and prayers to be part of a service, whereas Humanists are limited by the Humanist Society to conduct entirely non-religious ceremonies. The majority of the services I conduct are entirely non religious. If however, the family would like a hymn played or sung or a prayer said, then that is within the remit of an independent celebrant.
