Morrisons cafes offering all OAPs a FREE hot drink and mince pie

The supermarket is inviting pensioners to join them in their cafe on December 3. 

To claim your freebie, all you need to do is simply stop by at Morrisons cafe and mention the offer to staff at the till.

The festive deal was shared on the Hot UK Deals Facebook website today, with many users commenting to share their encouragement of the sentiment.

One user commented saying: “Lovely gesture. No one should have to suffer from loneliness, at Christmas or at any other time.”

Another said: “Well done Morrisons.”

Although other users weren’t quite so impressed, with one saying: “Lovely gesture, although doing it 22 days before Christmas seems a little premature.”

Any customer aged 55 or over can claim the freebie and you can find your nearest store on Morrisons’ website. The Dumbarton store is in Glasgow Road, Dumbarton.

A Morrisons spokesperson said: “Nobody should have to be alone over the festive season, and so to show our older customers how much we value them — and to spread a little festive cheer — we’re offering them a free mince pie, a hot drink and some friendly company.”

A survey from charity Age UK found that 982,200 people aged 60 or over feel lonelier through the festive season than at any other time of the year.

There are many ways to volunteer in the campaign and make a difference to those who are feeling lonely at Christmas.

You can befriend an elderly person in your local area by being matched to someone from Age UK.

There will be opportunities to visit an elderly person’s home or sign up for a weekly 30 minute chat on the phone.
