WHO’S PAYING FOR YOUR POPPY?
Advice from the Council’s Finance section is that the purchase of the wreath does not meet the criteria within the current guidance. There is currently an exercise underway to review Community Councils and the support provided to them by various council departments. This will include reviewing the guidance and consulting with community councils on this.
NO CLOSURE FOR CLUTHA CRASH RELATIVES
One conclusion might have been that the experienced pilot – a former RAF airman who not only flew helicopters but trained others to do so – had dismissed the warnings because he believed they were the result of a defective system. But that has been ultimately rejected by Sheriff Turnbull.
HUNDREDS OF OPERATIONS CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF EQUIPMENT
A response to a Freedom of Information request has revealed that since 2017, over 400 scheduled operations, that were set to take place within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, have been cancelled due to there being a lack of equipment to carry out the operation.
DUMBARTON ACADEMY PUPILS BENEFIT FROM NAVY EXPERTISE
A total of 15 High Schools throughout Scotland are taking part and Royal Navy experts will eventually visit them all – including Vale of Leven Academy, Clydebank High School and Kilpatrick School – over the coming weeks.
CONCORD COMMUNITY CINEMA ON WEDNESDAY
A WEE LOOK BACK 57 is at 1.30pm on Wednesday 13th November in the Concord Centre, Dumbarton. The programme features films on ‘A Hurl Round Glasgow’ from Glasgow Heritage Group, ‘Scotland’s Highlands’ from Canadian traveller Rick Skene and ‘A Visit to Isle of Man’ from our own Lawrie Pennycook.
